CRICKET BATTING TIPS

A batsman needs to have both mental and technical skills to bat comfortably and score runs. The mental toughness and composure has a big role to play on a batsman’s performance along with the technical abilities. Batting in cricket is all about scoring runs and every batsman want to score runs for his team but many are unsuccessful most of the time. It may be because of some technical inabilities, poor concentration, pressure, panic , etc. A good batsman is able to understand the situation and adjust accordingly without taking much pressure. Mostly a batsman fails to perform because of their poor mindset and panic in tight situations. For playing better the following might be handy which worked well in my case.

A batsman must have a sound knowledge about batting basics and rework the basics in case you have a bad run of form.

You must know the technical part of playing shots well and practice the drills over and over again to master it.

You must always trust your ability and instinct.

It is important to play a ball on the merit rather than being pre-determined to play a particular shot.
You must play one ball at a time and forget the boundary hit or a play and a miss the previous ball.

Playing up to your strengths can be helpful i.e. playing shots to the areas/balls which you feel comfortable.

You must not get distracted or lose your temper while batting but must be calm and concentrated.

Patience is a key in batting. Generally you have plenty of time than what you normally think you have. You must never panic if you are scoring slowly because you are going to get bad balls anytime.

You must never forget the fact that you are batting for your team and must trust your partner at the other end.

If you are struggling then try to get to the other end or seek help from your partner. Have self-talks between deliveries to keep boosting your morale.

In case of poor run of form you must take help from your coach or senior players and hit the net working hard on basics and technique.

Taking good care of your bats and kits is vital.

These are some tips that might help you perform better and come up from a bad run of form but it’s up to individual. Some have their way to play and mindset which works perfect for them.
